Lesson Plans
I created the following lesson in the winter of 2011 for the Fayetteville, Arkansas Service Learners. They are a group of high school students who do service work in the community for high school credit.
We actually had lessons for grades through 1-5. The 5th grade lesson is included here. It is a primer for local recycling, teaching where items go and what they are made into. This lesson plan also emphasizes concern for the safety of the workers who handle all this stuff.
The volunteer questionnaire is an important initial step as it gives those who are going to teach, some basic local recycling knowledge, as well as justification for recycling and waste reduction.
